1950 - 1960 | THE ORIGIN, WITH SOMETHING CLEAR: OUR ONLY ASSET IS OUR CREDIBILITY
Simko was born in Argentina, as a one-man-show commanded by Pablo Simko, a 27-year-old Austrian immigrant, willing to change History in the just-born local rubber industry’s commerce.
The first challenge was to convince customers who depended from European brokers, that they could trust in a new source, from Singapore. A distant and underdeveloped city, part of a British colony, mainly inhabited by Chinese.
An adventure that took him from Buenos Aires to Singapore through 14 cities. When later he returned to Singapore, the immigrations official welcomed him: “Hello Argentine, you again here?” This natural rubber source of supply was the Lee Rubber Group. Since 1954, Simko continues being their proud exclusive representative in Latin America.
And so the Simko History started. The Company had already 3 employees in the early 1960s, and all focused in servicing the Argentine rubber industry, as agents for foreign companies. Passion for excellence in customer service, priority placed in long term relationships, and valuing Principals and Employees as life long partners, have always been the flagships along the road. And the first Simko logo was born. Representing the fusion with the Eastern World that was showing its face after World War II, and its integration with the West.

1960 - 1970 | MISTAKE THAT CHANGED HISTORY
During the 1960s, detiny changed for Simko. A mistake in a natural rubber shipment from Singapore made 50 tons transform themselves in 500… and with that, the need to hold them in stock until they could be sold. By accident Simko transformed itself in a local sales company, taking care of the industry that did not import rubber directly, but preferred to buy from local stock.
An essential change, that did not modify Simko’s essence. Company culture continued unchanged. A new sales system started, and continues unaltered until today: customers have the option to import directly, or purchase from local stocks. It is their choice. Always.
The first Machinery for the rubber industry agencies were added, and the philosophy of offering raw materials and machinery related to them, was inaugurated.

1970 - 1980 | SALES OUTSIDE ARGENTINA
During the 1970s, Pablo Simko’s pioneer spirit took him to make the first international sales to Brazil, the other big Latin American market. Always as Lee Rubber´s Agent. Simko’s founder never thought that this would be only the first small step of what was to come.
Sales of natural rubber also started to Chile and Peru, always from the Buenos Aires offices, which by that time already had 18 people, and included customer technical support.

1980 - 1990 | THE PLASTICS DIVISION IS BORN
Diversification came towards the end of the 1980s. Already with the active participation of Simko’s second generation, the new Plastics Division was unveiled, and it quickly equalled in volume and variety of products, what was since then called the Rubber Division.
The Plastics Division specialized in Engineering plastics. Witht he same philosophy of loyalty and long term vision that made Simko strong since its beginnings, it took agencies that still thrive today, after over 20 years. The Plastics Division then diversified into the PET containers industry, a novelty in those days, both with raw materials and machinery.
Simko invested in machinery for PET injection moulding, partnering with strong industry leaders, to strengthen its scope of supply.
In this way a solid base was born, that would open the opportunity for the big leap forwards.

1990 - 2000 | INTERNATIONAL EXPANSION
It was in 1998 when Simbras, Simko Brazil, opened its doors. Always with the cultural base of its origins, and with personell coming from within, a new adventure had started.
Since then, Simbras has enjoyed sustained growth with its Plastics Division, through sales of PET preforms in association with Cristalpet of Uruguay, and its local partner Polymport, and more recently with its Rubber Division.
The Mercosur had been born, and a new development opportunity, that Simko was not going to let go. The business model never changed: raw materials for the industry, where the customer always has the choice of direct import or local purchase, and machinery associated with the process. And, as always, we know that our only asset is our credibillity.

2000 - 2010 | THE NEW CENTURY
And the moment to reinvent Simko arrived. From the Logo’s modernization upto the understanding the World
as a globalized, flat place, without boundaries. It was the moment for a transformation: the traditional agent, who only took advantage of the language and communications barriers, ceased to exist.
Crisis = Danger + Opportunity
Simko understood that globalizing itself, it would continue adding value to the chain. And started offering
its customers, through its own Chinese office, purchasing solutions. Consolidating cargo and offering different “tailor made” solutions. Closing the cultural and logistical gap between the East and the West.
